Bullitt Central AJROTC defeats Devils Lake AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Bullitt Central AJROTC defeated Devils Lake AJROTC 865.5 to 715.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. They currently have a 2 - 3 record. Bullitt Central AJROTC was led by, Matthew Singer who shot a 226.6. The remaining contributing members were Jason Lin, Olivia Sageser, and Alasia Griffith. Bullitt Central AJROTC is from Shepherdsville, KY, and is coached by Gene Roach.
Devils Lake AJROTC currently has a 0 - 5 record. Devils Lake AJROTC was led by, Devon Carlson who shot a 223.2. The remaining contributing members were Ashton Nelson, Marcus Heiser, and Ryan Drury. Devils Lake AJROTC is from Devils Lake, ND, and is coached by Todd Huderle.
Next up Bullitt Central AJROTC will compete against Chaparral NJROTC from Las Vegas, NV. Chaparral NJROTC currently has a 3 - 2 record. While Devils Lake AJROTC will compete against Central Arkansas Hawkeyes from Conway, AR. Central Arkansas Hawkeyes currently has a 1 - 3 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
