Moberly AJROTC defeats Gallatin NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Moberly AJROTC defeated Gallatin NJROTC 1043.7 to 944.7 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fifth win in a row. With the win, Moberly AJROTC is in seventh place overall and first place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 5 - 0 record. Moberly AJROTC was led by, Jaden Large who shot a 271.0. The remaining contributing members were Anastaza Buckner, MacKenzie Hopper, and Joseph Gibbs. Moberly AJROTC is from Moberly, MO, and is coached by Jeff Parks.
Snapping a two game win streak Gallatin NJROTC currently has a 3 - 1 record. After the loss they are in twenty-first place overall and fourth place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. Gallatin NJROTC was led by, Ashton Cannon who shot a 248.1. The remaining contributing members were William Wright, Aidan Brock, and Rayden Sweet. Gallatin NJROTC is from Portland, TN, and is coached by Duffy A. Thompson.
This coming week Moberly AJROTC has a bye week. While Gallatin NJROTC will compete against Grossmont NJROTC from El Cajon, CA. Grossmont NJROTC currently has a 2 - 2 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
