Loveland AJROTC Narrowly Defeats Northgate AFJROTC
Loveland AJROTC edged out Northgate AFJROTC 1013.8 to 1000.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. With the win, Loveland AJROTC is in eighth place overall and second place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 5 - 1 record. Loveland AJROTC was led by, William Fritz who shot a 262.9. The remaining contributing members were Ryan Cajka, Seth Menard, and Danika Eisentraut. Loveland AJROTC is from Loveland, CO, and is coached by Harold Johnson.
Northgate AFJROTC currently has a 4 - 2 record. After the loss they are in twelfth place overall and first place within their 'Air Force Jrotc' conference. Northgate AFJROTC was led by, Asa Weil who shot a 265.1. The remaining contributing members were Holly Metz, Katriel Porter, and Nicholas Cano. Northgate AFJROTC is from Newnan, GA, and is coached by James Dorsey.
Next up Loveland AJROTC will compete against Moberly AJROTC from Moberly, MO. Moberly AJROTC currently has a 6 - 0 record. While Northgate AFJROTC will compete against W. H. Page NJROTC from Greensboro, NC. W. H. Page NJROTC currently has a 4 - 2 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
