Grove City NJROTC defeats Venice MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Grove City NJROTC defeated Venice MCJROTC 1049.0 to 1022.8 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Grove City NJROTC was led by Harrison Schaefer who shot a 269.3. The remaining contributing members were Jack Bowyer, Shelby Shaffer, and Brendon Rodriguez. They are from Grove City, OH, and are coached by CDR Dustin Martin.
Grove City NJROTC competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in seventeenth place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in fourth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 4 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Grove City NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.
Venice MCJROTC was led by Julie Waller who shot a 268.6. The remaining contributing members were Emma McGill, Collin Speyrer, and Claire Patterson. Venice MCJROTC is from Venice, FL, and is coached by Frank Troxel.
Venice MCJROTC also competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in eighteenth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 4 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Venice MCJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
