LeMoore NJROTC defeats Picayune NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season LeMoore NJROTC defeated Picayune NJROTC 1073.2 to 1036.7 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. LeMoore NJROTC was led by Michaela Darden who shot a 275.9. The remaining contributing members were Romeo Montoya, Mitchel Orogo, and Yadyra Rodriguez. They are from LeMoore, CA, and are coached by R Myers.
LeMoore NJROTC competed in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in sixth place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in fourth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 4 record.
Thanks to their performance this season LeMoore NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.
Picayune NJROTC was led by Hailey Lee who shot a 274.2. The remaining contributing members were Makayiah Magee, Zariah Brumfield, and Harmoni Anderson. Picayune NJROTC is from Picayune, MS, and is coached by Doug Brown.
Picayune NJROTC also competed in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in fifth place. Within the Navy JROTC Conference they finish in third place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 4 record.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
