W. H. Page NJROTC Narrowly Defeats Northgate AFJROTC
W. H. Page NJROTC edged out Northgate AFJROTC 1030.2 to 1018.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. W. H. Page NJROTC finishes the season in fourth place overall and first place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They finished the season with a 5 - 2 record. W. H. Page NJROTC was led by, Jeffrey Strader who shot a 261.7. The remaining contributing members were Makenna Wilson, Emilyrose Sheffield, and Emma Senneville. W. H. Page NJROTC is from Greensboro, NC, and is coached by David Buchholz.
Northgate AFJROTC finished the season with a 4 - 3 record. They finishes the season in thirteenth place overall and second place within their 'Air Force Jrotc' conference. Northgate AFJROTC was led by, Asa Weil who shot a 266.1. The remaining contributing members were Katriel Porter, Holly Metz, and Nicholas Cano. Northgate AFJROTC is from Newnan, GA, and is coached by James Dorsey.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
