Eldorado NJROTC defeats A. C. Mosley MCJROTC
Eldorado NJROTC defeated A. C. Mosley MCJROTC 986.9 to 809.0 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. With the win, Eldorado NJROTC is in seventh place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 3 - 3 record. Eldorado NJROTC was led by, Isabella Dominguez who shot a 254.3. The remaining contributing members were James Prunty, Noelani Lopez, and Davin Schneider. Eldorado NJROTC is from Las Vegas, NV, and is coached by Maj Todd Hook.
A. C. Mosley MCJROTC currently has a 1 - 5 record. After the loss they are in tenth place within their 'Marine Corps Jrotc' conference. A. C. Mosley MCJROTC was led by, Elissa Burch who shot a 233.6. The remaining contributing members were Gavin Luther, Selah Darnell, and Dylann Serrano. A. C. Mosley MCJROTC is from Lynn Haven, FL, and is coached by Kenneth Hicks.
Next up Eldorado NJROTC will compete against Grossmont NJROTC from El Cajon, CA. Grossmont NJROTC currently has a 2 - 4 record. While A. C. Mosley MCJROTC will compete against Lejeune MCJROTC from Camp Lejeune, NC. Lejeune MCJROTC currently has a 4 - 2 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
