Maspenock Rod and Gun Club defeats GRRP Air Pistol Team
Maspenock Rod and Gun Club defeated GRRP Air Pistol Team 2213 to 2172 in the National Air Pistol League. Their third win in a row. Maspenock Rod and Gun Club finishes the season in first place overall. They finished the season with a 6 - 0 record. Maspenock Rod and Gun Club was led by, Michael Gentile who shot a 571. The remaining contributing members were Manuel Snyderman, Jeff Hall, and Ross Bradley. Maspenock Rod and Gun Club is from Milford, MA, and is coached by Manuel Snyderman.
GRRP Air Pistol Team finished the season with a 5 - 1 record. They finishes the season in third place overall. GRRP Air Pistol Team was led by, Timothy Schmeltzer who shot a 560. The remaining contributing members were Mark Hayford, Guenther Dittmer, and Ron Carr. GRRP Air Pistol Team is from Jenison, MI, and is coached by Larry Logsdon.
Due to the large number of school and club closings in light of the coronavirus outbreak, the remainder of the league has been cancelled and awards will be issued based on the seven weeks of competition completed so far. League teams who are still meeting have the option to participate in several weekly invitational games in lieu of the regular season.
These two teams are competing in the National Air Pistol League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for clubs throughout the United States. Over 10 weeks each team competes in 8 games. Each week, each team is paired with another team with a near equal win-loss record.
In each game the teams compete in a 60 shot air pistol match. This competition is identical to the Air Pistol events in the Olympic games. Each athlete will shoots 60 shots, with each shot worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
