Cowley County 4-H defeats TAG Team
Cowley County 4-H defeated TAG Team 1268 to 1180 in the National Air Pistol League. With the win, Cowley County 4-H is in tenth place overall. They currently have a 1 - 7 record. Cowley County 4-H was led by, Jade Alquest who shot a 332. The remaining contributing members were Naomi Ray, Stetson Shook, and Bailey Haunschild. Cowley County 4-H is from Winfield, KS, and is coached by Austin Waite.
TAG Team currently has a 1 - 5 record. After the loss they are in thirteenth place overall. Shooting their highest team score of the season TAG Team was led by, Matt Whannel who shot a 346. The remaining contributing members were Pete Holden, Amber Fink, and Sydney Vavroch. TAG Team is from Traer, IA, and is coached by Peter Holden.
This coming week Cowley County 4-H has a bye week. While TAG Team will compete against NorthWest Shooters 4-H from Cypress, TX. NorthWest Shooters 4-H currently has a 1 - 5 record.
These two teams are competing in the National Air Pistol League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for clubs throughout the United States. Over 10 weeks each team competes in 8 games. Each week, each team is paired with another team with a near equal win-loss record.
In each game the teams compete in a 40 shot air pistol match. This competition is nearly identical to the Air Pistol events in the Olympic games. Each athlete will shoots 40 shots, with each shot worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
