Pierre Jr Shooters Defeats Forsyth County 4-H
In an undisputed contest, shooting their highest score this season, 1982.9 points, top seeded Pierre Jr Shooters wins their semi-final game against Forsyth County 4-H. Their fourth win in a row, Pierre Jr Shooters advances to the league championship game with a 6 - 1 overall record.
This will be Pierre Jr Shooters second straight championship game appearance. They will be facing 2017 League Champion Walton County 4-H. This will also be the second time this season these two teams competed against each other. In their regular season match up Walton County 4-H edged out Pierre Jr Shooters 2012.6 to 1990.0.
In the semi-final game Pierre Jr Shooters was led by Justin Merriman who shot a 403.2. The remaining contributing members were Jenna Kruger, Wyatt Rose, Alee Smith, and Jessica Hays. Pierre Jr Shooters is from Pierre, SD, and is coached by Sean Kruger.
Forsyth County 4-H received a disqualification from the game due to scoring violations.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
