Walton County 4-H defeats Forsyth County 4-H
Walton County 4-H defeated Forsyth County 4-H 1980.7 to 1939.5 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Walton County 4-H is in second place in their Division with a 1 - 0 record. Walton County 4-H was led by Breann Jones who shot a 401.7. The remaining contributing members were Vivian Elliot, Camden Miley, Jordan Smothers, and Mason Harper. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.
Forsyth County 4-H dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Forsyth County 4-H was led by VIVIAN MUNCE who shot a 403.1. The remaining contributing members were ABIGAIL HARRIS, SARI WATERS, KIRSTEN BAUER, and ETHAN RICKETT. Forsyth County 4-H is from Cumming, GA, and is coached by Forsyth County 4-H.
Uniquely, Breann Jones' 401.7 from Walton County 4-H and Vivian Munce's 403.1 from Forsyth County 4-H makes them the first two athletes ever to break the 400.0 mark in competition. With the introduction of decimal scoring, a more precise method of measuring scores, athletes top scores are now out of a possible 436.0.
Next up Walton County 4-H will compete against Homestead 4-H from Beatrice, NE. Homestead 4-H currently has a 1 - 0 record. Forsyth County 4-H will compete against Lake Houston 4-H from Kingwood, TX. Lake Houston 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
