Walton County 4-H defeats Homestead 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Walton County 4-H defeated Homestead 4-H 1967.0 to 1924.8 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their second win in a row, Walton County 4-H is in second place in their Division with a 2 - 0 record. Walton County 4-H was led by Jordan Smothers who shot a 398.5. The remaining contributing members were Breann Jones, Mason Harper, Emily Goitia, and Tony Stacy. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.
Homestead 4-H dropped to 1 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fourth place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Homestead 4-H was led by Colt Dittbrenner who shot a 398.6. The remaining contributing members were Ty Dittbrenner, Jaden Guernsey, Anna Ideus, and Andrew Enns. Homestead 4-H is from Beatrice, NE, and is coached by Mike Jochum.
Next up Walton County 4-H will compete against Carroll County 4-H from Bowden, GA. Carroll County 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record. Homestead 4-H will compete against Lake County Aces from Madison, SD. Lake County Aces currently has a 1 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
