Lake County Aces Narrowly Defeats Lake Houston 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Lake County Aces edged out Lake Houston 4-H 1924.1 to 1906.9 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Lake County Aces is in third place in their Division with a 1 - 1 record. Lake County Aces was led by Thomas Mallett who shot a 388.9. The remaining contributing members were Colby Briggs, Amanda Bensen, Brookelynn Mallett, and Lance Lee. Lake County Aces is from Madison, SD, and is coached by Jennifer & Wade Briggs.
Lake Houston 4-H dropped to 0 - 2 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Lake Houston 4-H was led by Mitchell Weatherford who shot a 382.7. The remaining contributing members were Olivia Schammel, Ainsley Day, Carissa Wallace, and Evan Johnson. Lake Houston 4-H is from Kingwood, TX, and is coached by Steven Schammel.
Next up Lake County Aces will compete against Homestead 4-H from Beatrice, NE. Homestead 4-H currently has a 1 - 1 record. Lake Houston 4-H will compete against Forsyth County 4-H from Cumming, GA. Forsyth County 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
