Gwinnett Shooting Sports Narrowly Defeats Roaring Rifles
Shooting their highest score of the season Gwinnett Shooting Sports edged out Roaring Rifles 1896.3 to 1884.3 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their second win in a row, Gwinnett Shooting Sports is in second place in their Division with a 2 - 0 record. Gwinnett Shooting Sports was led by Matthew Herrington who shot a 393.0. The remaining contributing members were Chase Trammell, Logan Borneman, Alec Borneman, and Jayce Wiggs. Gwinnett Shooting Sports is from Sugar Hill, GA, and is coached by Robert Herrington.
Roaring Rifles dropped to 1 - 1 on the season. They are currently in third place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Roaring Rifles was led by Asiya Abdullah who shot a 381.1. The remaining contributing members were Michael Gruber, Joseph Simak, Adam Reinsch, and Aj Cavanaugh. Roaring Rifles is from Germantown, MD, and is coached by Ed Compton.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
