Western Nebraska Shooting Sports defeated Midland Young Guns 1570 to 1416 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their sixth win in a row, Western Nebraska Shooting Sports is in first place in their Division with a 6 - 0 record. Western Nebraska Shooting Sports was led by Danika Bohl who shot a 372. These two teams are competing in the Elite Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
