Walton County 4-H defeats Appling Bulldogs
Walton County 4-H defeated Appling Bulldogs 1875 to 1770 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their second win in a row, Walton County 4-H is in third place in their Division with a 3 - 1 record. Walton County 4-H was led by Lucy Peters who shot a 392. The remaining contributing members were Emily Goitia, Jackson Davis, Brycen Gran, and Camden Miley. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.
Appling Bulldogs dropped to 1 - 3 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in their Division. Appling Bulldogs was led by Alyssa Herrington who shot a 366. The remaining contributing members were Susan Carter, Lizzie Bell, Lane Stanley, and Cara Bryant. Appling Bulldogs is from Baxley, GA, and is coached by Jeffrey McLellan.
Next up Walton County 4-H will compete against Carroll County 4-H from Bowden, GA. Carroll County 4-H currently has a 2 - 2 record. Appling Bulldogs will compete against Forsyth County 4-H from Cumming, GA. Forsyth County 4-H currently has a 4 - 0 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
