Pierre Junior Shooters defeats Carroll County 4-H
Pierre Junior Shooters defeated Carroll County 4-H 1882 to 1853 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their third win in a row, Pierre Junior Shooters is in second place in their Division with a 3 - 0 record. Pierre Junior Shooters was led by Natalie Mohr who shot a 379. The remaining contributing members were Jenna Kruger, Justin Merriman, Jessica Hays, and Alee Smith. Pierre Junior Shooters is from Pierre, SD, and is coached by Sean Kruger and Jon Hays.
Carroll County 4-H dropped to 1 - 2 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Carroll County 4-H was led by Collin Grubbs who shot a 382. The remaining contributing members were Will Hanson, Sierra Brooks, Sara Jennings, and Benjamin McDermitt. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Next up Pierre Junior Shooters will compete against Johnson County 4-H from Shawnee, KS. Johnson County 4-H currently has a 1 - 2 record. Carroll County 4-H will compete against Humboldt Sharpshooters from Hartford, SD. Humboldt Sharpshooters currently has a 1 - 2 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
