Walton County 4-H Narrowly Defeats Humboldt Sharpshooters
Walton County 4-H edged out Humboldt Sharpshooters 1891 to 1874 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Walton County 4-H is in first place in their Division with a 1 - 0 record. Walton County 4-H was led by Lucy Peters who shot a 384. The remaining contributing members were Tony Stacy, Jackson Davis, Brycen Gran, and Camden Miley. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.
Humboldt Sharpshooters dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Humboldt Sharpshooters was led by Eli Dissing who shot a 380. The remaining contributing members were Julia Ivey, Alisha McMartin, Braiden Luedtke, and Mya Dissing. Humboldt Sharpshooters is from Hartford, SD, and is coached by Eric Dissing .
Next up Walton County 4-H will compete against Pierre Junior Shooters from Pierre, SD. Uniquely this game features the last two Daisy National BB Gun Champions. Walton County 4-H won in 2015 and Pierre Junior Shooters won in 2016. Pierre Junior Shooters currently has a 1 - 0 record in the league.
Humboldt Sharpshooters will compete against Wayne County 4-H from Jesup, GA. Wayne County 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
