Warren Central MCJROTC Narrowly Defeats Dallastown MCJROTC
Warren Central MCJROTC edged out Dallastown MCJROTC 956 to 955 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row, Warren Central MCJROTC is in second place in their Division with a 4 - 0 record. Warren Central MCJROTC was led by MARTINA SZABO who shot a 242. The remaining contributing members were SAVANNAH GOMEZ, JAMAREEA VANTERPOOL, and JACOB CAREY. Warren Central MCJROTC is from Indianapolis, IN, and is coached by Shawn Hudachko.
Snapping a two game win streak Dallastown MCJROTC dropped to 2 - 2 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Dallastown MCJROTC was led by Hunter Eberly who shot a 247. The remaining contributing members were Zachary Grove, Ashley Henry, and Zachary Kauffman. Dallastown MCJROTC is from Dallastown, PA, and is coached by Matthew Corwin.

These two teams are competing in the Marine Corps JROTC Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top eight teams who will compete for the league championship.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
