C. T. Johnson AJROTC defeats Georgia Competitive Shooters
C. T. Johnson AJROTC defeated Georgia Competitive Shooters 2321.1 to 2294.7 in the 2023 National Precision Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. C. T. Johnson AJROTC was led by Lily Taylor-Odgren, who shot a 585.9. The remaining contributing members were Farina Nakprommin, Grace Bledsoe, and Soraya Sar. They are from San Antonio, TX, and are coached by MAJ Tom Groggett.
C. T. Johnson AJROTC competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in eighth place. Within the Jrotc Conference they finish in fourth place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
Next up, C. T. Johnson AJROTC will compete in the postseason Championship Tournament as the eighth seed. They will face first seed American Legion Post 295 in the first round.
Thanks to their performance this season C. T. Johnson AJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League Season. To complete their qualification, they must still shoot a minimum qualifying score, set for next season at 2358.0 (decimal score for 60 shot standing), in a sanctioned competition within the next 10 months.
Georgia Competitive Shooters was led by Amy Filippone who shot a 596.8. The remaining contributing members were Jayden Bateman, Jt Wright, and Michaela Hampl. Georgia Competitive Shooters is from Griffin, GA, and is coached by Matthew Herrington.
Georgia Competitive Shooters also competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in twelfth place. They finished the regular season with a 2 - 3 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Georgia Competitive Shooters preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
