Royal MCJROTC defeats Earl Warren AFJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Royal MCJROTC defeated Earl Warren AFJROTC 1015.0 to 842.1 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Royal MCJROTC was led by Jenna Johnson who shot a 260.8. The remaining contributing members were Jason Pierce, Jesus Morales, and Diego Martinez. They are from Pattison, TX, and are coached by LaShan Bland.
Royal MCJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in fortieth place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they finish in eighth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 5 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Royal MCJROTC likely qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Earl Warren AFJROTC was led by Iaasc Silva who shot a 233.9. The remaining contributing members were Nicholas Herrick, Richard Burton, and James Fink. Earl Warren AFJROTC is from San Antonio, TX, and is coached by Kevin Keaney.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
