Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports Defeats Stewarts Creek AJROTC
In an undisputed contest, shooting their highest score this season, 2242.8 points, Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports gets the win over Stewarts Creek AJROTC. Their fourth win in a row. Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports was led by Rachel Haines who shot a 587.4. The remaining contributing members were Mikaela Sanchez, Wesley Myers, and Angelynn Sanchez. They are from Houston, TX, and are coached by Laura Haines.
Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in second place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they finish in first place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
The cut scores are still unofficial, however Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports likely will qualify for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Stewarts Creek AJROTC is from Smyrna, TN, and is coached by Joel Payne.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
