Red River Rangers defeats Guthrie JROTC
Red River Rangers defeated Guthrie JROTC 2084.5 to 1861.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Red River Rangers was led by Victoria McClung who shot a 592.7. The remaining contributing members were Grayson Muller, Elizabeth Walker, and Addison Burnley. They are from Shreveport, LA, and are coached by Christopher Simon/ Clayton Brakeville.
Red River Rangers is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in sixth place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they are in third place. They have a 2 - 4 record.
Shooting their highest team score of the season Guthrie JROTC was led by Aidin Edmondson who shot a 523.2. The remaining contributing members were Tyler Powell, Brandon Willis, and Ryan Bostick. Guthrie JROTC is from Guthrie, OK, and is coached by Kyle Brede.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
