X Shots Shooting Club Narrowly Defeats Ramona NJROTC
X Shots Shooting Club edged out Ramona NJROTC 1053.4 to 1038.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. X Shots Shooting Club was led by Rowen Balagtas who shot a 269.9. The remaining contributing members were Sophia Ching, Trinity Vong, and Lauren Nakashima. They are from Aiea, HI, and are coached by Yuji Hata.
X Shots Shooting Club is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in seventh place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they are in second place. They have a 3 - 2 record.
Ramona NJROTC was led by Aodhan MacLochlainn who shot a 271.0. The remaining contributing members were Nathan Anliker, Audrey Norton, and Wyatt Barrett. Ramona NJROTC is from Ramona, CA, and is coached by CDR Rick Jordan.
Overall Ramona NJROTC is ranked thirty-first. They have a 3 - 1 record.
This coming week X Shots Shooting Club has a bye week. While Ramona NJROTC will compete against Haughton AFJROTC from Haughton, LA. Haughton AFJROTC currently has a 3 - 1 record.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
