South Panola AFJROTC defeats X Shots Shooting Club
Shooting their highest score of the season South Panola AFJROTC defeated X Shots Shooting Club 1100.1 to 1067.1 last week in the National Air Rifle League. South Panola AFJROTC was led by Sarena Hickingbottom who shot a 284.7. The remaining contributing members were Masimo Aguilar, Cameren Becerra, and Jazmine Taylor. They are from Batesville, MS, and are coached by Col Robert Mims.
South Panola AFJROTC is competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in fourteenth place. Within the Air Force Jrotc Conference they are in first place. They have a 2 - 0 record.
Snapping a two game win streak Shooting their highest team score of the season X Shots Shooting Club was led by Rowen Balagtas who shot a 274.5. The remaining contributing members were Lauren Nakashima, Robert Nordin, and Trinity Vong. X Shots Shooting Club is from Aiea, HI, and is coached by Yuji Hata.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
